Johnny's Guitars - Saturdays from 1 - 2 pm - Weekly
What initially started as a couple of shows over the Christmas Bank Holidays, has turned into a weekly programme celebrating the best and lesser-know guitarists since (probably) recordings began.
A man of many talents (as many as three, if you include walking in a straight line), John has combined his loves of radio and guitars to create a one-hour programme each week about guitars and the people that play them.
Not always thematically linked, and often made up on the spot, the programme aims to show case guitar music playing tracks from the 1920s to the present day and in genres that include the mandatory (blues, rock, rockabilly and Status Quo) to the unexpected (Afrobeat, swing jazz, neo-classical shred and some other stuff I - I mean, he - can't remember at the moment).
John is also prone to complaining about the state of the modern guitar industry, the demise of the retailer and the vast sums of money needed to buy some instruments.
John is proud to play, amongst others, a Martin HD-28V and a Gibson J-45 and would actually play anything you sent him and let him keep free of charge (including a Martin D-18 and a Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop if you're listening).
Controversial opinion: PRS guitars are for dentists that can't play golf.
